To prove to his annoying older brother that he’s a man, well-to-do sculptor Rupert Pemberton tries to repair his broken toilet. But he has no knack for practical tools and no know-how. After a flood of biblical proportions, he has no choice but to call for help.
A gorgeous hunk of a plumber named Paul Cooper shows up at Rupert’s doorstep with a ready toolbox and a sexy smile. With Paul at his side, Rupert realizes he wants more than a quick fix. After a couple of cozy dates and a few bouts of steamy sex, Rupert wonders how he can keep Paul around for good.

Rupert has a love/hate relationship with his older brother Emery. When Rupert’s toilet needs fixing, he tries to fix it himself, but is nothing close to a handy man and ends up making a bad situation worse. Finally – determined to lie about it to his brother – he admits defeat and does what Emery first suggested and calls a plumber. Paul is nothing like Rupert expected. Delicious muscles and a sexy ass – Rupert struggled to focus on Paul’s words and not just lick him all over. Paul has noticed Rupert too. Shy and attentive, Rupert awakens a deep hunger in Paul. Can a simple call-out job lead to something more?I found this to be a fun and erotic short story. I loved the instant chemistry between Paul and Rupert and thought when they finally came together it was sensual and satisfying. The pace was fast – there is very little time between Paul and Rupert meeting and them having sex – but the chemistry and being shown both their points of view made it easier for me to believe in their instant attractions. Readers who don’t like “head hopping” might not enjoy the swapping from Rupert to Paul between chapters but I personally found the flow of the story kept moving well and it was easy to follow. I also appreciated seeing things from both men’s thoughts, as it helped solidify their attraction to me in a quick manner.
My only real complaint was that much of the first chapter was spent with Rupert extolling how different he was from his brother – negatively putting himself down next to his “God-like Olympic champion” older brother – and going over a little repetitively how he never measured up. While I understood the need for some background, a whole chapter along this thread felt a little like padding to me. I felt that much of this chapter could have been pared back. Considering the start of any book is so critical to hook the reader and have them salivating for the next page and the one after that, it seemed like a very odd – and not very appealing to me, personally – way to start the story. Once Rupert called Paul and the chemistry sizzled between them I happily got on board and thoroughly enjoyed the ride, but it really did have a rocky start for me in the place where most readers will find critical to getting hooked into the story.
With a whole bunch of secondary characters – Paul is one of six children – there’s plenty of interesting interactions outside the main romance of Rupert and Paul. I found this to be a fun, mostly lighthearted romance with some hot sex and a lot of laughter. A great, quick read.

Flushed edition by Susan Laine Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
This is a very sweet, low to no angst short story about an insecure artist (trust funder) who falls for a blue collar plumber and in return finds himself in the process.
Paul is 100% sweet and perfect and really brings out the best in Rupert “Roo”. There is a little drama with some bigots and a small bit of family drama, a fair amount of steamy sex and lots of feels.
For a quick, hot, and sweet read – I highly recommend this short story.
4.5 of 5 stars
Flushed by Susan Laine is a nice quick fast paced read that is steamy hot. I stories like this great ones to just sit back and get lost in after a long day.
In this story we have Rupert the youngest, wants to prove he is more than his big brother thinks he is. He wants to prove himself. He is an artist but feels that means he is not really arrived yet. When he has some toilet troubles he is lost how to fix it….but lucky for him he has great tastes in plumbers. He is an unsure, gay man with an over flowing toilet problem.
Paul is the plumber he ends up calling. He is sexy, sweet, and blue collared all the way. He is a bit on the sassy side. He likes Rupert and how he does not put on airs and is himself. Paul owns his business has been working since he was 16.
These two coming together you would never have seen it coming. But this story proves that sometimes opposites do attract. I found this story to be super sweet and a whole lot spicy! Loved it and want more! I will be looking for more from this author in the future.

Rupert, aka Roo, has always lived in his older brother’s shadow. When his toilet needs to be fixed, he insists that he can take care of it himself even though his brother suggests calling a plumber. Eventually, he realizes that he does need professional help with the fix and a strong, sexy, tall, man shows up and takes care of the problem. But, that isn’t all he takes care of and the two get down and dirty on the bathroom floor. Paul, the plumber, woos the Goth Roo and takes him on a few dates to court him the proper way, even though they always end the nights back in Roo’s bed.
I really struggled with this short story. It started out strong, but fizzled very quickly. So much so, that I had to put the book down and either do something else or read something else because it could not hold my attention. The dialogue was too detailed and cheesy in a lot of parts. Paul seemed to talk down to Roo a lot, which is not something I would want in a partner. In another instance, Paul asks Roo about his Gothic lifestyle and instead of a conversation, the dialogue turned into what felt like a lecture about Goths and the history of them. Interesting? Yes. Did it work in the context of the story? No, it was one of the places where I had to put the story down.
While I could not connect with either of the characters, I found them to be well developed and the backstory for each was well detailed. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to keep me engaged and I just did not care for this book. Maybe it is me? Maybe not. But, either way I would not recommended it.
